WSU Holiday Card

Every fall, Winona State University has a Holiday Card designed to go out to all of the WSU community. I joined a group of designers from the Graphic Design program in presenting President Scott R. Olson with a few possibilities for the 2014 year. Our team of 5 designers pitched 3 ideas to the President, and I joined 2 of the students in further developing our accepted proposal.

There were a few guidelines in developing the Holiday Card, President Olson wanted a physical card as well as a parallax website version of the card, and also for the concept of the card to coincide with his Welcome Message to the WSU Community titled: Terra FirmaThe message focused on President Olson’s hopes for the WSU community to continue to grow and prosper and how this is possible because of a good solid foundation – “Terra Firma“.

I lead the majority of the illustrations on this project. I took the most historical buildings on the WSU campus and stacked them on one another creating this whimsical tower that our group felt reflected the WSU spirit and culture. My fellow designer and illustrator Hannah Sung decorated the tower with lights and characters, and we handed our illustrations over to our web-developer Jack Morey to create the parallax, digital version of the card.
